Preserving Britain's archival heritage through digital and microfilm publication
With over 50 years' experience contributing to the preservation and dissemination of knowledge, Microform Academic Publishers continues to apply its expertise in the archival preservation and information requirements of a library, archive and research communities, as demonstrated by its vibrant publishing programme, including the winter 2007 launch of a British online archives service.
We maintain a large and diverse catalogue of research resources on microfilm, microfiche and CD-ROM encompassing particular strengths in: African exploration and colonisation, the art of the book, Asian studies (including a new series Records of the Raj), British history, city directories (London, Edinburgh and Dublin), education acts and reports, English ecclesiastical records, fascism in the UK, genealogy from parish records, history of science (Faraday, Tyndall et al.), illuminated manuscripts, labour history, literature (William Blake, George Orwell, Walt Whitman, Oscar Wilde et al.), mediaeval studies, missionary archives, philosophy, politics, religion, sacred music part books, secularism, slavery, social studies, trade unionism, transatlantic shipping records, the West Indies and North America.
We also publish materials from the libraries of a number of stately homes, notably Holkham Hall in Norfolk, and Longleat House, as well as the Stuart papers and other important collections from the Royal Archives at Windsor Castle.
Ideas for new publications are welcome from librarians and archivists with responsibility for the preservation of special collections throughout Great Britain. Academics who use such materials are also encouraged to submit proposals. Further details on how to submit a proposal appear on the What's New? page.
The publishing arm of Microform Imaging Limited, Microform Academic Publishers has a pedigree going back to 1956. Almost all the 3,000 microfilm and fiche titles produced since the original company, Micro Methods, was established remain in print, including three prestigious, long-running series: British Records Relating to America in Microform (BRRAM), published under the auspices of the British Association for American Studies (BAAS); also Government publications relating to African countries prior to independence, and the allied Annual departmental reports relating to African countries prior to independence, both of which were launched under the auspices of African Studies Association of the United Kingdom (ASAUK) with Neville Rubin as founding General Editor. More recent series include: Fascism and reactions to fascism in Britain (1918-1989) and Records of the Raj.
In addition to most of the titles first published under the name "Micro Methods", later known as EP Microform and as Microform Ltd, our catalogue also includes many of the former Altair Publishing. Also represented are over 350 current and historical periodicals, both journals and newspapers.
